Protologue - Latin original

Foliis ellipticis integerrimis vel apice parce subdentatis, margine revoluto, utrinque glaberrimis, basi attenuata;

Ramuli cylindracei, subcurvati, internodiis unciam dimidiam et paullo longioribus, cortice laeviusculo, griseo-fuscescente; parte superiore foliis circiter 8 obsita, inferiore nuda vel inflorescentiae glomerulis obsita; Gemmula terminalis lateralis, subulata, stipulacea;
Folia disticha, patula, ochrea brevissimia cauli adnata, cicatrice adsecendente, petiolus breviusculus (3"' longus", lamina elliptica (poll. 4 longa 1 1/2 lata), apice paullo acuminata, integerrima v. paucidentata; costatio debilis excurrens, costae laterales 6 filiformes, secundariae tenerrimae, diffusae et subhorizontaliter simpliciter et parce furcatim anastomosantes; pagina superior et inferior glaberrima, prior lucida posterior prima tantum juventute pilis maxime tenerrimis, adpressis obsita;
Inflorescentiae ex ramuli parte anni praecedentis erumpentes, numerosae, glomeratae, singulae ex octo circiter spiculis compositae;
Spiculae tenerae, breviusculae, vix pollicem 1/2 longae, rhachi abscondita, vix pilosa;
Flosculi 15-18, bracteis acutis, mucronatis, squamiformibus fulti; bracteolae filiformes;
Sepala subulato-lanceolata flexuosa 5 - 6;
Stamen lineare, cruribus distantibus;
Pistillum turbinatum, stylo conspicuo, stigmatibus obtusis, conniventibus;
Fructus capsularis, subgloboso-trigonus, brevissime mucronatus, glaber, sessilis;
Placentatio et semen uti in reliquis generis speciebus;

Adnotatio vix a L. myricoide acute distingui potest; sepala angustiora plerumque 6, capsula globosa, sessilis, breviter mucronata, foliorum aspectus et consistentia a prior distingunt.

Protologue - English translation

Leaf elliptical entire or apex moderately subdentate, margin revolute, both sides hairless, base attenuate;

Twig cylindrical, somewhat curved, internode approximately 1.5 inches and a little longer, bark moderately smooth, grey-brown; leaf veins partly superior circa 8, leaf below naked or covered over with densely clustered inflorescence; bud terminal lateral, subulate, stipulate;
Leaf distichous, outspread, sheathed by stipules extremely short stem adnate, scars ascending, petiole short (1/3 inch long), lamina elliptical (4 inches long 1.5 inches wide), apex a little acuminate, entire to few toothed; midrib extending a little beyond the apex, vein laterals 6 thread like, secondary veins very thin diffuse and subhorizontal only and moderately forked anastomosing; surface above and below hairless, young leaves covered with very thin adpressed hairs, later shiny;
Inflorescence breaking partly out of the twig the preceding year, numerous, densely clustered, composed of circa 1 to 8 spikes;
Spike very thin, short, barely 0.5 inch long, rhachis hidden, barely pilose;
Flower 15-18, bract acute, supported by scale mucronate shaped; bracteolate very thin;
Sepal subulate-lanceolate zigzagged 5-6;
Stamen linear, far removed from cross shape;
Pistil turbinate, style conspicuous, covered over with converging stigma;
Fruit capsule, subglobose-trigonal, short mucronate, hairless, sessile;
Placentation and seed as other genus species;

Annotation: barely different from L. myricoide with keen eyesight it is possible to distinguish apart; sepal narrow very frequently 6, capsule globose, sessile, short mucronate, leaf appearance and texture from the first discernible.
