Protologue

Spica masculae intus extusque carnosulo-subspongiosae molliusculae (in sicco), sessiles, acrogenae basi bifoliatae, pleurogenae basi 1-foliatae axillares, globosa v. ovatae (7-12 mm long. = 6-7 mm diam.), bracteis oveatis (2-2.25 mm long. = 2.50-3mm lat. bas.) parum carnosis viridibus obtusis, ad multifariam densiuscule imbricatis, basi inter se +-ve connatis, cavo axeos obconico profundiusculo 1-floro; phylla perianthii lineari-oblonceolata v. spathulata albo-halina (44 mm long. = 1-1.5 mm lat.); stamina ante anthesin inclusa dein longe exerta, filamentis tenuissimis (5-6 mm long.), antheris majusculis (2-2.5 mm long. = 0.75 diam.), loculis per totam longitudinem connatis albescentibus, polline falvo globoso (30-35 micron diam.) laeve grosse -operculato.
Spicae foemineae ramulos gemmaceos dense foliosos simulantes, intus +-ve nodoso-lignosae, sessiles acrogenae v. pleurogenae (7-10 mm long. = 5-8 mm diam.) bracteis foliis caulinis simillimis sed minoribus (3-4 mm long. = 1.5 lat.) obtusis viridibus carnosis obscure ad quadrifariam dispositis (pseudo-decussatis!), basi inter se fere liberis, axi elliptico v. ovato sublignosulo insertis, loculis axillaribus parvulis ad basin ventralem bractearum minutissime ostiolatis aegerrime perspicuis 1-(rarius 2-3-) floris; perianthia omnino O; utriculi ovati toti loculis axeos immersi, stylo subulato integro vix papillosos per ostiolum loculi protrudente coronati. Fructus elliptici utrimque acutiusculi (10-15 mm) lon. = 6-8 mm diam.) glabri virides v. saepius purpurascentes, primo braceteis +-ve vestiti, dein denudati, epicarpio tenui membranaceo mox frustulatim evanescente, endocarpio osseo, mesocarpio setuloso-spongiosulo vestito; loculi in quoque fructu plures polystichi majusculi (3 mm lat. et long. = 1.5 mm crass.) e mutua pressione subinordinati v. difformes monospermi
